Dude went nuts for these treats.
Peanut Butter Bones adapted slightly from commenter ChzPlz at Apartment Therapy: The Kitchen
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup chopped peanuts
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
Pre-heat oven to 350 F.
In a large bowl combine flour, oatmeal, peanuts and baking powder. Add peanut butter, water, honey and stir until you have stiff dough. Use your hands, if you need to, at the end in order to blend it well. (I used my KitchenAid stand mixer with the paddle attachment because I’m too lazy to mix by hand. It worked well.)
On a lightly floured surface, roll or pat the dough out about 1/2 inch thick and cut into 1†x 3†strips OR roll out and using your dog bone shaped cookie cutter, cut out the shape of the bones.
Bake for 20 minutes, until golden. Cool on the pan, but be sure your dog isn’t a counter-surfer.
Store in a tightly sealed container. Freeze treats if you won’t be giving them away soon.
