Time for a Snack

Healthy, gluten-free snack

I’ve been obsessed with avocados lately, just snacking on a half straight from the shell, sprinkled with a little salt. It’s a healthy and satisfying treat. But after reading that my friend Nicole at Love Life and her son Luca add honey and lemon to the mix, I now have a new favorite way to enjoy them. So, so good.

Update: Jeannie left a comment suggesting avocado with a drizzle of soy sauce, which I’ll be trying with my very next one. So what’s YOUR favorite way to enjoy avocados? I’d love to hear more suggestions!

  1. MM looks amazing! What’s also good, if you’re feeling more savory, is just adding kikkoman soy sauce to it 🙂 Now THAT is good.

  2. Mashed with lemon and salt and eaten on toast. Mmm. I work in cheese and charcuterie and one of my customers has sliced avocado on toast topped with a thin slice of fried pancetta for breakfast every day!

  3. A crazy combination but a wonderful breakfast, lunch, or dinner… diced avocado and poached egg on a bed of brown rice drizzled with Heidi Swanson’s (101cookbooks) cilantro-chile sauce.

    Awesome. And now I’m drooling.

  4. Love avocados too! Usually have them on toast mashed up with lemon, pepper & salt or sliced with sliced tomatoes, a sprinkle of dukkah or ras al hanout and a drizzle of oregano oil (pics on my blog) – perfect for b’fast, snack, lunch…whenever!

  5. Glad I’m not the only one sprinkling a bit of kosher salt on one half of an avocado to indulge in it’s rich lusty flavor. Since I’m diabetic, it’s a low carb snack filled with a punch of caloric goodness.

  6. The avocado with soy sauce idea is great, but to make it even better put a few thing slices of raw garlic in, it gives it a nice kick. Of course you will have garlic breath for the rest of the day..

  7. I love to chop up a half tomato, and half an avocado put them in a mug together, add garbanzo beans and then top with balsamic vinegar, SO GOOD.
