Virtual Memories Show
COVID Check-In: Cassandra Khaw

Supernatural horror author & game writer Cassandra Khaw checks in from Montreal. We talk about her life in transit and her dread at seeing borders close, how horror writers are scaredy-cats and why she’s trying to write something bright & happy, how it’s driving her batty to not be able to go to the gym), the therapeutic aspects of playing Animal Crossing and how it deviates from a key rule of gaming by enforcing the need to slow down, her lament at missing Montreal’s mural festival, helping amplify other writers through Twitch-streamed readings, her undying love for Stephen Graham Jones’ Mongrels, her upcoming novella, and more. Give it a listen!

About our Guest

Cassandra Khaw writes many things. Mostly these days, she writes horror and video games and occasional flirtations with chick-lit. Her work can be found in venues Clarkesworld, Fireside Fiction, Uncanny, Lightspeed, Nightmare, and more. A Song for Quiet was her latest novella from Tor.com, a piece of Lovecraftian Southern Gothic that she worries will confuse those who purchased Bearly a Lady, her frothy paranormal romantic comedy. Her new novella comes out in June as part of the collection Walk Among Us.

You should check out Cassandra on Twitter and Instagram, support her work via Patreon or Ko-Fi, and listen to our full-length podcast.
