Tom’s Commentary
The Sonics head into 2007-2008 pinning their hopes on a talented rookie, and not the “take us to the next level” kind of hope but the “we need you to win more than seven games all year” hope. The sweaty, desperate looking brand of hope. Kevin Durant doesn’t have teammates this year as much as he has an entourage that has to suit up and play with him, even though they‘d probably be better suited to staying at home and playing Halo 3. This includes any and all teammates who get those weird invites to be cut in the 18th and 19th positions from the Olympic Team. No good can come of this.

Talented fellow rookie Jeff Green has a shot at one of those completely anonymous 15-year NBA careers, which makes him my favorite first-year player.

Rejoinder From Gil
The new ownership may be the only people alive who prefer Oklahoma City to Seattle.

Gratuitous Comics Connection
Seattle is the home of Fantagraphics Books.

Gratuitous Pharma Connection
It’s also the home of Seattle Genetics, which is obvious, I guess.

The Bottom Line
This is Wally Szczerbiak’s chance to shine! Which means Tom’s season-win prediction is better than mine. –GR
