  1. Heard a few podcasts before venturing to comment on Gil Roth. He is awesome. Montaigne would love to take a leisurely walk along a berceau before charming Gil into a nearby vineyard to ply him with liberal cups of ‘the blushful Hippocrene with beaded bubbles winking at the mouth’. Gil is a chevalier of catholic taste whose heft as a formidable polymath is tempered by lightness of touch. His two hour plus podcast is variegated enough to cast a spell that will hold you in thrall for two decades.
