Joe Eszterhas, on the other hand, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avclub.com\/content\/feature\/my_year_of_flops_inside\" target=\"_blank\">made this<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p>I never actually saw any of Rauschenberg&#8217;s art, so I checked some out on a slideshow in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/05\/14\/arts\/design\/14rauschenberg.html\" target=\"_blank\">NYT&#8217;s obit<\/a> on him. I wasn&#8217;t very impressed; guess I&#8217;m just a philistine. Jack Shafer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/id\/2191397\" target=\"_blank\">isn&#8217;t very impressed with the fawning obits<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p>People who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.2blowhards.com\/archives\/2008\/05\/glass_staircase.html\" target=\"_blank\">build glass staircases<\/a> shouldn&#8217;t throw theoretical jargon.<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p>Keith Law recently finished reading Anthony Powell&#8217;s 12-volume <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Dance-Music-Time-First-Movement\/dp\/0226677141\/virtualmemories-20\" target=\"_blank\">Dance to the Music of Time<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meadowparty.com\/blog\/?p=256\" target=\"_blank\">writes about it<\/a> as part of his &#8220;I&#8217;m going to read every book from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/2005\/100books\/the_complete_list.html\" target=\"_blank\">Time 100 list of best novels since 1923<\/a>&#8221; project. (I think; his next book is by Zola, who died 20+ years before 1923.) Looking over that <em>Time<\/em> list quickly, it looks like I&#8217;ve read 33 or 34 of their picks, and can guarandamntee you that a whole lot of them ought&#8217;nt to be on that list.<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/comicsreporter.com\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Comics Reporter<\/a>, Tom Spurgeon, offers up the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comicsreporter.com\/index.php\/index\/the_greatest_comic_character_of_all_time\/\" target=\"_blank\">greatest comic character of all time<\/a>.
