What I’m reading:<\/em> Same stuff as last week \u00e2\u20ac\u201d When the Shooting Stops<\/a>\"\", The Book of Basketball<\/a>\"\" \u00e2\u20ac\u201d and a ton of stories that I’d been saving in my RSS reader.<\/p>\n

What I’m listening to:<\/em> Graceland<\/a>\"\" (Paul Simon), Boxer<\/a>\"\" (The National; boy I really adore this record), In Our Nature<\/a>\"\" (Jose Gonzalez), The Royal Tenenbaums<\/a>\"\" soundtrack<\/p>\n

What I’m watching:<\/em> The 6-episode BBC miniseries, The Singing Detective<\/a>\"\", which was mindbowingly good.<\/p>\n

What I’m drinking:<\/em> Hendrick’s & tonic (but not at the Westin Bonaventure in L.A., those bait-and-switching sonsabitches<\/a>)<\/p>\n

What Rufus is up to:<\/em> According to my wife, he spent his time pouting in his crate while I was away.<\/p>\n

Where I’m going:<\/em> Nodarnwhere! Yay!<\/p>\n

What I’m happy about:<\/em> That I was able to carry off French cuffs with my suits at the conference last week. And the new album by Dave Rawlings Machine<\/a>\"\" is out this week!<\/p>\n

What I’m sad about:<\/em> Not getting to see more of L.A. than the 1-mile stretch of downtown from my hotel to the convention center. Didn’t even get out to the retail store for Monocle magazine<\/a> in Santa Monica.<\/p>\n

What I’m worried about:<\/em> That this essay<\/a> will lose its ability to inspire me.<\/p>\n

What I’m pondering:<\/em> What headset to buy for my Skype-recording setup, since I’m going to do a lot more of my day-job at home<\/a> and need to be able to record phone interviews. Also, I’m still thinking of starting a VM podcast somedarntime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
