Also, they discount the books on their site\u00a0AND they&#8217;re a non-profit doing the Lord&#8217;s work, so I kinda splurged.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Bellowing by Gil Roth, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/chimeraobscura\/16026583266\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7555\/16026583266_6b30ff4de5_z.jpg?w=525&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Bellowing\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If necessary, I can explain myself:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thoreau &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loa.org\/paperbackclassics\/thoreau.jsp\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Walden<\/em><\/a> &#8211; I never read it, and there&#8217;s a seminar on it this May at St. John&#8217;s College.<\/li>\n<li>Dos Passos &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loa.org\/volume.jsp?RequestID=34\" target=\"_blank\"><em>USA<\/em> trilogy<\/a> &#8211; I never read it and who knows?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.loa.org\/bellow\" target=\"_blank\">Saul Bellow<\/a> &#8211; They were selling all 4 collections of Saul Bellow&#8217;s novels as a group for $115 (before the 20% discount), and I figured I need to add more heft to my 20th century Jewish writers shelf, alongside Philip Roth, Bruce Jay Friedman, Bernard Malamud, Joseph Heller and James Salter (nee Horowitz).<\/li>\n<li>Susan Sontag &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loa.org\/volume.jsp?RequestID=392\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Essays of the 1960s &amp; 70s<\/em><\/a> &#8211; I never read her, and really have to correct that.<\/li>\n<li>Philip Roth &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loa.org\/volume.jsp?RequestID=378\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Nemeses<\/em> (novels 2006-2010)<\/a> &#8211; I own these books separately, but I have the rest of the Roth L.O.A. collections, and I&#8217;m a completist.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.loa.org\/volume.jsp?RequestID=185\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Writing Los Angeles: A Literary Anthology<\/em><\/a> &#8211; it was only $9.95, and I&#8217;m now interested in LA after a my trips there this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Why don&#8217;t you come by and check out the library sometime?
