We made it home yesterday! Wacky observations will follow, along with a pair of huge photosets on Flickr!
Meanwhile, we need to unpack, get food, and debate whether to spend $24.95 on the PPV of New Zealand v. France in the Rugby World Cup quarterfinals at noon (even though the All Blacks will have to wear their road gray unis).
(Update: the game’s at 3pm, not noon. And we’re buying in, so we can see some French guys get pasted by some big Maoris.)
(Update 2: Victory! France’s inaptly named Serge Bentsen just got knocked the f*** out around the 4:30 mark, trying to slow down an All Black rush! Vive Le Smush!)
(Update 3: All Black & Bleu! France beats NZ, 20-18!)
You should have watched the England rugby match!
I saw the final! “Wallabies Shocked by England!” Of course, you’re only SO tough when you call yourself “the Wallabies,” so I think they brought in on themselves.
I seem to recall a BAREFOOT rugby team many many years ago – was that the Ã…ll Blacks, or the Springboks from S.Africa? or am I halucinating again????
I always tell people that it was the All Blacks when I tell that anecdote, so let’s stick with that.
England versus France next weekend – should make for an interesting day in our house! Cool photos of Italy by the way.
I never picked you for a thugby fan Gil….I don’t watch it at all (which makes me un-Australian or something) but seeing some of the coverage made me remember that some poor English guy was beaten up in an NZ bar the day before our NZ tour started. I heard it on a news bulletin just as we pulled out of Auckland on our way to Stankonia. The kiwis were upset that the cup was being taken out of the Southern hemisphere. I’ll bet they’re really pissed now!
If you get a chance see if you can get a good close-up photo of the wallabies wearing their jerseys. I think they tried to make them look sculpted but they just look like they’re wearing sports bras.
