What was Zack Randolph like as a player?
Zack didn’t play! He’s on “bereavement leave” or something like that. Instead, we saw Jamaal Magloire go apeshit, whipping down dunks off of his drop-step move. He was ferocious; Sam & I were amazed, since Magloire’s been invisible for a couple of seasons now.
No one else really stood out for Portland, even with that rookie kid scoring about 20-something points. Lamarcus Aldridge can jump really high and dunk the ball, but didn’t show much else. I still like Tyrus Thomas over him.
Most of the Knicks were just flat-out lazy, probably as a result of boredom from watching Marbury and Francis go on isos. Also, Isiah screwed up by putting David Lee (back from injury) and Balkman in at the same time as subs. They’re both “high-energy forwards” with limited games; he should’ve started one, then paired the other up with Channing Frye.
Gil, you should know by now that the wisdom of Zeke’s substitution strategies are beyond the ken of mortal man…
As are Zack Randolph’s ways of expressing bereavement.
