I saw him perform at the MGM in Vegas in Jan. 2004, and was amazed at how a guy my mom’s age can still belt it out.

Yeah but the whole honours system in the UK is bizarre. Centuries ago you only got a knighthood for slaying dragons. Now you can get one because girls throw their underwear on stage because they like your singing.
