Advice if you have a chance. I’m about to start working with the juniors on their college essays, and I’d like them to read some classic essays first (Shooting an Elephant, Once More to the Lake, etc.). Can you recommend anything from Montaigne? I’m looking for nothing more than 10 pages, and I would hope the essay shows how writing can open up a window a writer, both to his readers and to himself. If you’re busy, no biggie, but since you’re the Montaigne expert in my life, I thought I’d ask.
